Welcome to Get More Ministries!
Here’s a quick video about our ministry, or you can read in further detail below!
What Is Get More Ministries?
We are Bible teaching ministry. We teach people how to understand the Bible so they can read it for themselves and cultivate a deeper relationship with God.
Our Purpose
We want to help the people who are desperate for more of God find deeper life with Him through Scripture.
So many people want more of God, but they are intimidated and confused by the Bible. They know they should read the Bible, but they are terrified of doing it incorrectly. Their desire for God always feels unsatisfied because they experience the cycle of excitement, uncertainty, confusion, desperation, and discouragement when they engage the Bible.
The purpose of this ministry is to help people break through that cycle so they can experience who God is through the Bible.
Our Mission
Our mission at Get More Ministries is to teach Biblical engagement by blending two worlds that do not have enough overlap: biblical academia and pastoral ministry.
Biblical academia and pastoral ministry are both near and dear to our hearts. Our authors have various levels of theological education, and it was through the refinement of academia that our faith expanded, deepened, and grew stronger. We know not everyone will pursue theological education (and that is fine!), but we firmly believe the fruit of theological education is valuable for everyone and desired by many. That is why it is our mission to blend these two worlds; because knowing God is invaluable for our faith and practice.
Our Vision
We want to see people experience and continually deepen fellowship with God through biblical engagement and the practice of their faith.
We want to see God’s people embody the following characteristics:
- Approach the biblical text with a peaceful mind, knowing that they are hearing from God.
- No longer feel intimidated by the Bible
- People have a working knowledge and skillset for seeking God through Scripture
- People know how to wrestle with the text
- People have felt and continually feel God’s presence as they walk with Him through Scripture
- People live with a Biblical worldview
- People learn how to think theologically
- People grow in unity with all followers of Christ
- People develop a lifestyle of sanctification
Who We’re Trying to Help
We started our ministry because we noticed a need for people to be fed by the Word of God. There are two categories of people we have consistently encountered that we want to help:
The Intimidated and Embarrassed
First, some people want to go deeper with God through the Bible, but they don’t necessarily know how or where to start. The Bible feels big, mysterious, and confusing. Their desperation for God keeps them ever-ready to go deeper, but the fear of Bibleing incorrectly keeps them paralyzed and second guessing what they’re doing.
The Hungry for More
Second, many of the people we’ve worked with wanted more but didn’t know what ‘more’ looked like. The Sunday morning and small group experiences were not satisfying their desire to engage and talk about the Bible. They wanted… more.
We want Get More Ministries to meet these needs. We want to see people’s desire for God through the Bible be satisfied. We want people to reach their ceiling of understanding God’s Word. For some, that will look like consistently engaging the text in a devotional setting; for others, it might mean rigorous study of historical context and Biblical languages. Every person’s ceiling is different, but we want to help you reach it nonetheless.
Our Process
Teaching the ‘What’
Our first order of business is to teach you what the Bible says and means. We call this the message and the meaning of the Bible. Misunderstanding either the message or the meaning of the Bible results in biblical illiteracy. Correcting these misunderstandings creates the foundation from which you can cultivate deeper life with God through Scripture.
Teaching the ‘How’
Our next focus is to equip you with a skillset that allows you to experience God through the Bible on your own. God has given us the Bible as revelation about Himself, and life with Him runs through digesting what He has already said about Himself. Our mission is to equip you so that you can open a book you’ve never read in the Bible and determine the message and the meaning on your own.
Our Platforms
Blog & YouTube
Our online presence consists of our website/blog and our YouTube channel. We teach both ‘what’ and ‘how’ content on these platforms.
Seminars
We host in-person seminars throughout the year. Seminars are a unique experience because they allow us to invite people into a container of accelerated growth similar to what you experience as a student in Bible college or seminary.
Our seminars are a blend between an interactive lecture and a hands-on workshop. Seminars allow us to guide people through the learning experience in real time with a personal touch.
Social Media
You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
While we are on these platforms, most of our creative energy is focused on our blog, YouTube, and Seminars.
What You Can Expect From Our Content
EXEGESIS
“Exegesis” is the academic term for the process of interpreting the Bible. It incorporates multiple layers of examination, including: Historical Context, Literary Context, Authorial Intent, Themes, Literary Analysis, and Linguistics.
Exegesis is how we understand what the text says and means. The process of exegesis invites us to examine all the details of the text– i.e. “nerd out.”
Academics and pastors both use exegesis. Academics exegete and write commentaries / theological works. Pastors exegete and then translate their findings into preach-able theological truths for their congregations.
For us at Get More Ministries, we believe getting more of God begins by better understanding the message and meaning of His Word. Exegesis helps us lead you through that.
EXPLANATION
The details of exegesis need to be explained. This is the heart of teaching, and it is deeply biblical. Christ gave gifts to the Church for the purpose of building up the Body of Christ into maturity, and one of those gifts was teaching. (Ephesians 4:7–16).
We also see this principle at play throughout the biblical narrative. Ezra the priest read the Law to the exiles who had returned to Jerusalem, and the Levites working with Ezra explained the Law to the people (Nehemiah 8:1–8).
In Acts 8:26–40, Philip encounters an Ethiopian Eunuch who is reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asks the man if he understands what he is reading, and the man responds “How can I, unless someone guides me?” (Acts 8:31).
Explaining the message and the meaning of the Bible is important. Understanding the Bible has been invaluable to our faith here at Get More Ministries, and we want to help you have that same experience.
We explain at three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.
NUANCE
The more we study God through His Word, the more we’ve realized theology requires nuance. The Bible is nuanced and sophisticated because God is nuanced and sophisticated. Parts of the Bible are simple. Other parts are dense and weighty. The depths to which God has enabled humans to understand Him is realized through nuance.
Excellent theological teachers teach their students how to categorize the information God has revealed through His Word about Himself, the world, and humanity. Some of this material is “absolute,” meaning that any change to it fundamentally changes what we actually believe. Most of it, however, lives on the scale of nuance.
Our goal at Get More Ministries is (1) to help people feel the weight of nuance within the Bible, and (2) help people work through that nuance so they can better understand God and deepen their relationship with Him.
Depth
We are not satisfied with shallow depth or clichés. Everything about God is deep and meaningful, and we believe the human experience is better when we deeply know God, ourselves, and one another.
We are committed to teaching concepts at the depth to which they become most meaningful. One of the primary reasons people want more is because Scripture and theological concepts are often not taught at a deep enough depth.
Journey of Discovery
One of the best aspects about relationship with God through Scripture is the ‘journey of discovery’. The Bible is indispensable for knowing God. This works in multiple ways. On the one hand, the Bible reveals what humanity needs to know about the basics of who God is. On the other hand, the Bible also reveals the depths of who God is. One of the biggest thrills of biblical engagement is progressing down the journey of discovering who God is.
Our Store
We have an online store connected to our website. We offer products that assist you in biblical engagement so you can better understand the message and meaning of the Bible on your own.
Our biblical engagement products are designed with our commitment to depth in mind. We do not do fill-in-the-blank questions because we want your mind and heart to be engaged when you engage the text. Instead, we ask questions that require you to make observations in the biblical text. We cannot overemphasize how important the skill of making observations is to the journey of discovery and getting more of God through His word.
An engaged heart and mind accelerates the journey of discovery, and that is what we want our students to experience.
That’s who we are and what we do. If you’re interested in diving deeper into the Bible and drawing closer to God through His word, we’d love to stay connected with you through our blog, YouTube, and social media. Our goal isn’t to amass a long list of followers for the sake of watching our numbers climb. We want to genuinely help people better understand the Bible so they can draw near to God and embody the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Hope to see you soon,
Happy Bibleing!

PRIMARY CONTRIBUTOR
Darryl Sluka
Darryl is the founder of Get More Ministries. Born and raised in Grand Haven, Michigan, Darryl grew up outside – playing sports, lounging at the beach, exploring Michigan’s forests, and skiing. Coming from a long line of athletes, teachers, and coaches, Darryl wanted to follow in his family footsteps by becoming a high school teacher and coach. Along that journey, however, he realized the k-12 classroom was not for him. Still having a passion for learning and teaching, Darryl felt redirected by God to pursue pastoral ministry – a moment in his life he describes as “God hitting him over the head with a 2×4.” He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biblical Studies from Cornerstone University. His experience in academia provided him tools that he describes as “instrumental to my growth in the faith,” and his passion is to merge the academic and lay realms of the church so that everyone can experience the growth in their faith that he has. He is currently pursuing an M.A. in Biblical Exegesis from Cornerstone Theological Seminary. He and his wife welcomed their first child in 2025.

GUEST CONTRIBUTOR
Pete Charette
From New York City to a small town in Michigan, Pete has always sought to keep people on their toes by telling the world’s stupidest jokes that are somehow funny. He gave his life to the Lord in New York when he realized that, with himself at the helm, his life was a self-described “dumpster fire.” He found a local church to attend, and he immediately began reading the Bible with rigor in his desire to grow closer to God. This desire eventually lead him to pursue a Master of Arts in New Testament from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since his time in seminary, Pete has pastored both in formal church and house church settings. Over the years, his love for God has continued to deepen, and that has increased his capacity to love others in a Godly way. His greatest passion is to introduce people to and help walk them through the process of seeing the beauty, depth, and truth of God through reading the Bible. He is the author of Discipleship: Living Out the Mandate of God. Pete lives in Michigan with his wife Mary Anne. They have five adult children.

GUEST CONTRIBUTOR
Kayla Sluka
Kayla is Darryl’s wife of nine years, which means she has to put up with all his shenanigans. Born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Kayla has always loved open landscapes with broad views. She was bitten by the travel bug early in life and spent her teenage years and early twenties traveling the world on mission trips. These experiences embedded a deep love for people and cultures within her already large-capacity heart. Throughout her day to day life, Kayla seeks to let no one go unnoticed. She loves letting others know she sees them and that they are valuable. In her heart of hearts, Kayla is an artsy-fartsy multi-passionate creative. She loves drawing, designing, coloring, photography, gaming, and reading, but her biggest and deepest passion is music. She received a Bachelor or Arts in Vocal Performance from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She expresses her passion for music in multiple ways, including leading worship, and writing music with one of her best friends from college, Lamain.
